One of the ways I am doing this is by making some things myself instead of buying them already made! Some things are given: homemade rolls are waaaay cheaper than store-bought, a huge pot of homemade pasta sauce feeds us tons of times and is less than half the price of in-store (good-tasting!) sauces.
But something I never considered making on my own was tortillas for our fajita nights! They aren't that expensive in store, or so it seems until you discover how simple they are to make!
Below you'll find a recipe for tortillas that is easy, quick and very inexpensive!
8 tortillas for about 50 cents compared to $3 or more in store!!
Easy Homemade Tortillas

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup water
- 3 tbsp oil or melted margarine
Instructions
- Combine flour and salt in a bowl, slowly add in water and oil, mixing well to form a soft dough. Add more flour or oil if needed.
- Divide dough into 8 portions. Roll into 8 inch circles (they will be very thin)
- In a large non-stick skillt coated with oil/margarine, cook each side one minute.
That's it! These are so yummy and taste amazing when they're hot!

It is so good to find a recipe for authentic homemade tortillas! The ones from the store is ok in a pinch but there is nothing like fresh made!
